So, you've been told by the building inspector or your architect that your foundations need to be piled. The ground is just too weak, made up or otherwise unsuitable for a standard foundation. You may never have heard of piling or mini piling services before. That's understandable, it's a specialist area. Most people we speak to have never seen them installed before but in reality, they're all around you, most new build estates are on a piled foundation.
Piling is used in order to support the new structure by bypassing the weak/unsuitable ground, without having to dig hugely deep and unsafe trenches. Piles, of a size defined by the structural engineers, are usually either driven piles or drilled (augured) into the ground. This enables the load of the building to be transferred, past the weak ground, to a more supportive soil, deeper underneath.
The piles will then be linked together, within the trenches by a system of steel reinforced ringbeams. The trench containing the piles and ringbeam can then be filled with concrete to form the foundation that your builders/bricklayers can work off to continue the project.

Mini piling is a type of piling that is used for smaller projects, such as extensions and garages. It is a cost-effective and efficient way to provide a stable foundation for these types of structures. Mini piles are typically smaller in diameter than traditional piles and are installed using specialized equipment. They are often used in areas where space is limited or where the ground conditions are challenging.
Sheet piling is a type of piling that is used to create a temporary or permanent wall. It is often used in construction projects where excavation is required, such as for basements, retaining walls, and riverbank stabilization. Sheet piles are typically made of steel, timber, or concrete and are driven into the ground to form a continuous wall.
